The NKBA Legends & Change Makers Series features interviews of local attorneys who have distinguished themselves in the areas of legal practice and service accomplishments, with the goal of helping to educate and inspire other NKBA members. On March 19, 2025, our interviewee will be Howard Tankersley.
Howard has been a practicing attorney since 1993. In 2005 he served as President of the Northern Kentucky Bar Association and currently serves on the Lex Loci Editorial Committee.
Howard has served as a private criminal defense lawyer and public defender, has been a prosecutor, and has practiced worker’s compensation and personal injury law. Since 2010 he has practiced family law almost exclusively. From 2017 to 2023, he was employed by Children’s Law Center, a non-profit legal services provider where he represented children in Family Court as well in Domestic Violence and Criminal Court. Since 2023, he practices primarily in Juvenile Court in dependency, neglect and abuse matters and takes appointments as Guardian ad litem and Friend of Court.
