OUR MISSION

“The NKBA’s mission is to cultivate the highest standards of professionalism and fellowship among members, to provide education and resources to attorneys, to promote the profession, and to provide volunteer and educational services to the public.”

SERVING OUR MEMBERS

Since 1984, the Northern Kentucky Bar Association (NKBA) has grown in members, projects, and services at an astounding pace.  In the process, the NKBA has become an integral part of the Northern Kentucky Community.  It is the only local provider of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses.  Over ninety percent of the attorneys in Northern Kentucky with Kentucky license belong to the Northern Kentucky Bar Association.  The Association provides services to the members, the profession, and the general public.

HISTORY OF NORTHERN KENTUCKY BAR ASSOCIATION

The Northern Kentucky Bar Association was incorporated on Law Day, May 1, 1984, which means we are beginning plans to celebrate our 25th Anniversary!

Previously,  there had been  three County Bar Associations:  Boone, Campbell and Kenton.  The presidents of the three associations initiated the idea to combine individual county associations to form a unified Northern Kentucky Bar Association.  The three counties represented 43 cities and many districts.  In the beginning, the annual dues were $50 and the roster included 375 attorneys.

By May 1985, a Lawyer Referral Service was operational.  NKBA hosted its first golf outing at the Kenton County Golf Course in  September 1985;  the first Holiday Dance occurred in December 1985.  Dean Henry Stephens agreed to house the Northern Kentucky Bar Association offices on the campus of the Salmon P. Chase College of Law where they continue to be located.
